Iphone cases

Last week, I made a case for my iphone, using purple felt that I embroidered with some swirlies. I made another for Val using a sweet burgundy fabric with a gold pattern and a very Jackie O button. That one, I lined with a dark chocolate brown silk, using the lining skills I learned from Bmore Bags. Once I’d made the pattern and chose the fabric, they were so easy to make! Let me know if you want the pattern.

Horses and sewing, what fun!

I’m not sure that Bob, of Bobby’s Ranch, is terribly excited about the new apartment complex that was built in front of his horse ranch. But I’m excited that a horse ranch is right behind our apartment complex. Saturday afternoon we had some fun:

That's Toby, my very stubborn horse.

On Sunday, Thommy spent a few hours fishing and I spent a few hours finishing up a few projects:

This #1 t-shirt and #2 onesie are going to be sent to Jake and Logan Carter, along with the Everyday Blankies I made a few weeks ago.

I had a few onsies left over, so I decided to make a pair for Margot and Camden. They will be so cute with the matching turtle blankies I've started below.

Blankies

I dusted off my sewing machine over the weekend and made matching blankies for a certain Big Brother and his Little Brother (who should be arriving any day) in North Carolina. I’d originally planned to make an applique for each (“Big Bro” and “Lil Bro”) but the applique was illegible on the fabric. So…those will go on a t-shirt and a onesie…at some point.

I love this fabric so I’m so glad there’s some left over to make myself a little bag or something…but that’s a project for another weekend.

light enough for summer, but still cozy

I top stitched a double border and a few vertical seams to add detail to the blankies

Used my trusty pen tool to draw the letters in Illustrator.

These letters are kinda big to fit on a newborn's onesie...I may have to cut them down to size.

My goal is simple

My goal for this blog is simple. I want it to change my life. Not that I’m not happy, am I. But I have plans. My master plan is to have a blog and a web site where I can make crafty stuff, talk about making crafty stuff, show off the crafty stuff I’m making, and maybe even sell the crafty stuff to people who like it. Then I can sit in my sewing room, making bags and other things, and thinking about making new bags and other things, and have some babies, which I will be at home with to raise and nurture and make crafty sundresses and shorts for. So in short, this blog better work.

in the mean time, check out my piddly little etsy shop: jlsdesigner.etsy.com
